The Warrenton 8th grade girls squad captured the middle school state championship on Sunday, defeating Madras/Warm Springs 60-52 in the final. They finished the weekend with five wins out of six, including victories over Yamhill-Carlton (52-40) and Crescent Valley (45-17), and a comeback win after trailing by nine at halftime.
The roster features six eighth-graders and four seventh-graders, with six players having played together for five years. Their resilience and teamwork carried them through a tough schedule to secure the title.
