Andrea Pavan, who suffered serious injuries including fractures to several vertebrae after falling down an elevator shaft in South Africa, has been discharged from the hospital. The 36-year-old golfer underwent shoulder and back surgeries following the accident and will remain in South Africa for approximately five more weeks of rehabilitation before returning to the United States.
Pavan expressed gratitude for the support he's received, noting that being able to walk after the incident feels like a miracle. A GoFundMe set up by a former teammate has raised over $81,000 to support his recovery. The Italian golfer, who has won twice on the DP World Tour, was in South Africa for the Investec South African Open when the accident occurred.
