Colts Tag Jones After Breakout Season

The Indianapolis Colts have placed the transition tag on starting quarterback Daniel Jones following his breakout 2025 season with the team.

The Colts confirmed on Tuesday they are using the transition tag on Jones, worth $37.833 million – over $6 million less than the quarterback franchise tag. This allows Jones to negotiate with other teams, though Indianapolis would have the right to match any offer sheet he signs.

After a career revival with the Colts in 2025, Jones started 13 games, passing for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns with a 68% completion percentage before a season-ending injury. He was on pace to surpass his career bests in both categories before being sidelined.
