Chargers to Release Guard Mekhi Becton

The Los Angeles Chargers will release veteran guard Mekhi Becton, clearing $9.7 million in cap space while taking $2.5 million in dead money.

Becton signed a two‑year deal with the Chargers last March that included no guaranteed money for 2026. He played 15 regular‑season games and started the playoff loss to the Patriots. The move will free cap room but leave the team with dead money.

Becton, a 2020 Jets first‑round pick who later helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl, had struggled with injuries early in his career.
