The Houston Texans didn't wait long to find a new backfield contributor.

On Monday, a couple weeks before free agency even opens, they swung a trade with the Detroit Lions. It cost the Texans just a fifth-round pick to acquire David Montgomery.

Montgomery is 28 years old but still an effective back, running for eight touchdowns and 4.5 yards per carry in 2025.

He had just become expendable in Detroit thanks to the continued emergence of superstar RB Jahmyr Gibbs.

The fit with the Texans is fascinating, though, because of Woody Marks.

What happens to Woody Marks after David Montgomery trade?

Marks put together a promising rookie season, but now his workload seems destined to shift with the acquisition of Montgomery.

In reality, the Texans probably don't plan to change their long-term outlook on Marks much. He's still an impressive receiving back who also gets the job done on the ground.

But in the near term, this could mean a 50-50 kind of carry split between Marks and Montgomery.

The Texans may have felt this was a necessary move for one reason: Marks' injuries.

In almost every game he played as a rookie, Marks needed to depart for the blue medical tent. Most of the time, he made it back on the field, but it's still a concerning trend.

For a team that wants to finally make it past the AFC Divisional Round, veteran depth at RB is a positive thing.

Montgomery is still a quality player, and he can take the load off Marks not in a diminishing way but in a way that improves Houston's team as a whole.

How many times has India reached the T20 World Cup semi-finals? A look at their record

India booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 T20 World Cup with a thrilling five-wicket win over the West Indies at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Chasing 196, India held their nerves and completed the chase with just four balls to spare. The win highlighted India’s strong batting lineup and composure under pressure, setting up a highly anticipated rematch against England in the semis, who had defeated them in 2022.

T20 World Cup 2026: How many times has India reached the semi-finals?

Since the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007, there have been nine editions (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2021, 2022, 2024), with the 2026 tournament set to be the tenth. India have been one of the most consistent teams, reaching the semi-finals six times including 2026 (2007, 2014, 2016, 2022, 2024, 2026).

Out of these six semi-final appearances, India advanced to the final three times (2007, 2014, 2024) and lifted the T20 World Cup trophy twice (2007 and 2024), proving their strength and consistency in the shortest format of the game.

T20 World Cup 2026: India’s T20 World Cup Semi-Final Appearances

  • 2007 – Led by MS Dhoni, India reached the semi-finals and went on to win their first T20 World Cup by defeating Pakistan in the final.
  • 2014 – India reached the final but lost to Sri Lanka and finished as runners-up.
  • 2016 – Playing at home, India made it to the semi-finals but were defeated by West Indies.
  • 2022 – Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India reached the semi-finals but lost to England.
  • 2024 – Rohit Sharma guided India to their second T20 World Cup title, beating South Africa in the final.
  • 2026 – With Suryakumar Yadav as captain, India once again reached the semi-finals, continuing their consistent run in the tournament.

In the 2026 T20 World Cup, India are now set to face England once again in the semi-finals, following their impressive win over West Indies that secured their place in the last four. This clash promises to be a highly anticipated rematch, and with memories of their 2022 defeat still fresh, India will be determined to turn the tables and book their spot in the final.

Along with India, Pakistan and England have also reached the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup six times each. Pakistan made it to the semis in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2021, and 2022, while England reached the last four in 2010, 2016, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2026. This puts all three teams at the top when it comes to consistent performances in the tournament’s history.

Nebraska drops series finale to No. 7 Auburn in 12-3 defeat

Nebraska baseball (5-5) finished its weekend series with No. 7 Auburn (9-2) on Sunday afternoon. The Huskers suffered another major defeat at the hands of the Tigers, 12-3, to lose the series 2-1.

Auburn jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, highlighted by a three-run home run. Nebraska cut the deficit to three in the fourth with an infielder’s choice from Cole Kitchens and a sacrifice fly by Devin Nunez. The Tigers, however, added two more runs in the seventh and four in the eighth to put the game away.

Auburn finished with just seven hits, but capitalized on its 12 total walks, seven of which occurred in its final two innings at bat. The Huskers totaled eight hits on the day, but suffered 10 strikeouts and left 11 runners on base.

Kitchens, Nunez and Max Buettenback all drove in an RBI, despite not earning a hit in the loss. Dylan Carey, Joshua Overbeek, and Case Sanderson all finished with two hits on the afternoon. Carey's two hits bring his career total to 201, making him the 28th Husker in program history to reach the 200-hit mark. Mac Moyer and Preston Freeman each chipped in one hit.

Gavin Blachowicz (1-1) took the loss on the mound in his start for Nebraska. He recorded two strikeouts, but coughed up five runs, one earned, on four hits with two walks across 2.0 innings. Kevin Mannell pitched 4.0 innings, earning five strikeouts and surrendering a run on two hits.

Nebraska returns to Lincoln to start a nine-game stretch, beginning with a Tuesday afternoon matchup against Omaha. The first pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. CT on B1G+.
