The Dallas Mavericks (21-39) head out on the road for a long time, and they start the trip Tuesday night with a visit against the Charlotte Hornets (30-31). Dallas is on a three-game skid, having lost all three of their games in their most recent homestand. The Hornets have won four straight, most recently against the Portland Trailblazers.

Here’s the main things you need to know:

  • WHO: Dallas Mavericks vs Charlotte Hornets
  • WHAT: Becoming one with road games.
  • WHERE: Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina
  • WHEN: 6:00 pm CST
  • HOW: KFAA Channel 29, MavsTV streaming, NBA League Pass

The injury report is lengthy for Dallas, as has been the custom this year. Naji Marshall is still out with the finger issue. Marvin Bagley is missing another game due to the neck sprain. Cooper Flagg is doubtful with the foot sprain (I expect him to play Friday), as is Klay Thompson who is missing time due to the adductor injury sustained last game. Moussa Cisse and both other new guys on two-ways are questionable and I have no sense of whether they will play. PJ Washington and Caleb Martin are listed as probable.

The Hornets have everyone of note available. Dallas local Liam McNeeley is on assignment with the G-League.

Well, if you’re a tanking proponent, the Mavericks schedule is making rooting for that something that’s easy to do. This stinks though as if the Hornets beat the Mavericks, I think Kon Kneppuel takes a firm lead over Flagg in the Rookie of the Year race. Winning should matter, in my opinion, and getting the Hornets into the playoffs (even if it’s just the play-in) is cool.
