New MLS Commissioner Berg Says Pro/Rel Won't Happen Soon

Larry Berg has officially been introduced as the new MLS commissioner, effective January 1, 2027, but he immediately dismissed the prospect of a promotion and relegation system.

Berg, co-owner of LAFC, addressed the controversial topic at his introductory press conference. He stated that bringing the global "pro/rel" model to North American soccer is not "appropriate." bettingx.club

While the league has long discussed the system, Berg indicated it will not be implemented anytime soon as he takes the reins from Don Garber.
