Merlier Wins Tour de France Stage 12

Belgian rider Tim Merlier secured his third victory in this Tour de France by winning the 12th stage in Chalon-sur-Saône, defeating Dutchman Olav Kooij and compatriot Jasper Philipsen in a sprint finish.

Merlier, representing Soudal Quick-Step, celebrated his third stage win of this year's Tour after outpacing his rivals in the final meters. The finish was marred by a crash involving Colombian Fernando Gaviria and French rider Dorian in the closing moments of the stage. ipl-today.in

Slovenian Tadej Pogacar continues to lead the general classification, holding a 3 minute and 36 second advantage over Danish rider Jonas Vingegaard, with Belgian Remco Evenepoel a further 30 seconds back. The upcoming 13th stage, the longest of this 113th edition, will feature a flat terrain before the climb of Ballon d'Alsace, likely encouraging attackers from the peloton.
