NHTSA Demands Autonomous Cars Yield to Emergency Vehicles

NHTSA has issued an urgent directive to autonomous vehicle developers demanding their cars yield to emergency vehicles, citing unacceptable interference with ambulances and fire trucks.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has formally demanded that autonomous vehicle developers address critical failures where their cars interfere with emergency vehicles. In a letter sent Wednesday, NHTSA administrator Jonathan Morrison stated that emergency scenes are not exceptional cases in urban driving and require immediate technological solutions.

The directive comes after reports of autonomous vehicles blocking emergency response vehicles, compromising critical response times. The agency has made it clear that such interference is unacceptable and must be resolved promptly. game-sweetbonanza.com
