He was narrowly beaten by Emmanouil Karalis and KC Lightfoot in a highly competitive field. Karalis dominated the competition with a winning jump of 5.82 meters on just his second attempt, before clearing 6.00 as well. In the women's pole vault, Lene Retzius and Kitty Friele Faye placed fifth and sixth respectively, both clearing 4.40 meters. New Zealand's Imogen Ayris claimed victory with a jump of 4.81 meters.
