Astros catcher Diaz out with oblique strain

Houston catcher Yainer Diaz was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain after getting injured in batting practice Monday.

Yainer Diaz, who is hitting .248 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 26 games this season, will be out "for a while" according to manager Joe Espada. The Astros have called up catcher César Salazar from Triple-A Sugar Land to serve as backup with Christian Vázquez stepping in as starter.

Additional moves include recalling right-hander Jason Alexander and outfielder Zach Dezenzo, reinstating infielder Nick Allen from the IL, and designating outfielder Dustin Harris for assignment. orlando-books.blog
