Mets' Robert Jr. to IL with disc herniation

New York Mets center fielder Luis Robert Jr. was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with lumbar spine disc herniation.

Robert, 28, hasn't played since April 21 due to lower back tightness. An MRI administered on Wednesday revealed the injury. The IL move was retroactive to April 27. noplasticplease.life

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Robert had an epidural and was instructed to rest for 7-10 days. The Mets, who have baseball's worst record at 10-20, recalled infielder Eric Wagaman from Triple-A Syracuse to replace Robert.
