UCLA’s Mick Cronin Criticized for Underutilizing Michigan Star

UCLA coach Mick Cronin is facing backlash after former Bruins center Aday Mara transferred to Michigan, where he played a key role in the team's national championship victory.

Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times criticized Cronin for limiting Mara to 13 minutes per game during his two seasons at UCLA. Mara played 30 minutes in the championship game, helping Michigan defeat UConn 69-63. Plaschke described Mara as a '7-foot-3 indictment of [Cronin's] embattled program.'

Cronin has faced other heat this season, including an incident where he ejected his own player and snapped at a reporter. The criticism comes as UCLA celebrates its first NCAA title for the women's team.
