MacKinnon Becomes First NHL Player to 50 Goals This Season

Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon scored his 50th goal of the season, becoming the first NHL player to reach the milestone. The 30‑year‑old joined the franchise’s elite 50‑goal club, matching Hall of Famers Joe Sakic and Michel Goulet.

MacKinnon’s 50th goal came early in the first period against the Vancouver Canucks, a liner from up top that beat goaltender Kevin Lankinen. He celebrated with a knee slide and a glove pump, marking his second 50‑goal season and the third player in Colorado/Quebec history to achieve multiple 50‑goal campaigns.

The milestone also ties him with Nikita Kucherov for second in league points at 121, just four behind leader Connor McDavid. MacKinnon has posted four consecutive seasons of 110 or more points, underscoring his consistent production.
