Brewers Replay Review Overturns Bucknor's First Base Call

During a Brewers game on March 31, a replay review overturned C.B. Bucknor's call that first baseman Jake Bauers missed first base, after the umpire had not seen the foot on the bag. Bucknor, a 63‑year‑old veteran, has also been a focal point of the new challenge system.

In the sixth inning of a Brewers game at American Family Field on March 31, first baseman Jake Bauers was initially ruled out for missing first base by umpire C.B. Bucknor. A replay review showed Bauers had stepped dead center on the bag, and the call was overturned.

Bucknor, 63, has been a major‑league umpire since 1996 and has recently been in the spotlight as the new automated ball‑strike challenge system overturned several of his calls, including six in a single game on March 28.
