Turner Starts for USMNT in 5-2 Loss to Belgium

Matt Turner returned to the USMNT starting lineup for the first time since June 2025, but the team fell 5-2 to Belgium in a friendly at Mercedes‑Benz Stadium.

Turner was handed the starting role by coach Mauricio Pochettino, who had relied on Matt Freese for most of his tenure. The 29‑win goalkeeper made his first start since June 10, 2025, after being called up the day before the match.

The U.S. lost 5-2, with Turner making a few saves but conceding a 1‑1 goal after a long‑range shot from Zeno Debast and a second goal from Amadou Onana. Despite the defeat, Turner said he had a decent line of sight but couldn't save all the shots.
