Suarez Uses ABS to Overrule Bucknor

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suárez utilized the new ABS challenge system to overturn two consecutive strike calls made by home plate umpire C.B. Bucknor in Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox.

With a 1-2 count and two outs against Red Sox reliever Ryan Watson, Suárez challenged two strike calls that were ultimately deemed incorrect by the ABS system. The overturned pitches were both located slightly off the strike zone, though Bucknor had called them strikes with confidence. The Reds went on to win the game 5-3.

Bucknor had six of his calls overturned via ABS challenges during the game. Meanwhile, Red Sox manager Alex Cora was ejected after arguing a check swing call that wasn't reviewable under ABS. Cora later commented that while umpires are human, 'it wasn't his best day' and that the system allows everyone to see the mistakes.
