Perdomo Extends Sportsmanship to Umpire After WBC Call

After a controversial call in the World Baseball Classic, Arizona Diamondbacks’ Geraldo Perdomo greeted umpire Cory Blaser with a half‑hug before his first at‑bat in the Dodgers game.

During the World Baseball Classic semifinal, Perdomo was called on strike three to end a 2‑1 win over the Dominican Republic, but umpire Cory Blaser had ruled the pitch a ball. Perdomo, who insisted it was a ball, left the field frustrated.

Two weeks later, Perdomo met Blaser again in the MLB as the catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He greeted the umpire with a half‑hug before his first at‑bat, went 1‑for‑4 with a double, and the Dodgers won 5‑4, leaving the D‑backs 0‑2.
