Penn State Out, McKenna’s Freshman Season Ends in 3-1 Loss

Penn State was eliminated from the NCAA tournament with a 3-1 loss to Minnesota Duluth, ending freshman Gavin McKenna’s season.

Penn State fell 3-1 to Minnesota Duluth on Friday, with the Huskies scoring first via Shea Van Olm. Max Plante tied the game before intermission, but Hunter Anderson and Ty Hanson gave Duluth the edge in the third.

The 18‑year‑old McKenna finished his freshman campaign with 51 points in 34 games and is a top prospect for the NHL Draft, also a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
