Kos Shatters NCAA Record in 100 Backstroke Win

Texas senior Hubert Kos shattered the NCAA record in the 100 backstroke, becoming the first man to break the 43-second barrier and defending his national championship.

Kos annihilated his own previous mark by nearly half a second, establishing a new benchmark in collegiate swimming. The Hungarian swimmer led from the start and maintained exceptional consistency throughout the race, splitting 11.09 and 11.10 on his final two 25-yard segments.

His performance gives Texas momentum as they lead Florida by 9.5 points heading into the final day of competition.
