UConn sophomore Sarah Strong, a 2026 first‑team All‑American, will lead the Huskies against her home state, North Carolina, in the Sweet 16, hoping to end the Tar Heels’ run.

Sarah Strong, a 2026 first‑team All‑American and UConn’s leading scorer, will face her home state in the Sweet 16. The top‑seeded Huskies will take on No. 4 North Carolina on Friday at 5 p.m. ET.

Strong grew up near Chapel Hill and almost chose UNC, but opted for UConn for its winning culture and Geno Auriemma’s program. Her parents, former collegiate players, encouraged her to pursue basketball, and she has become a versatile force for the Huskies.
