Former MLB star Jason Heyward announced his retirement after a 16-season career, including a 2016 World Series win with the Chicago Cubs.

Jason Heyward, a 16-year MLB veteran and five-time Gold Glove winner, announced his retirement on Friday, citing a desire to mentor young players and stay involved in the game as a fan.

Heyward, who debuted with the Atlanta Braves in 2010, played for the Cubs, Cardinals, Dodgers, Astros and Padres, finished with a .255 average, 186 homers and 730 RBIs, and was part of the Cubs’ 2016 World Series championship.
