Luka Doncic, the Lakers' leading scorer, will sit out the final five regular‑season games after tearing his left hamstring in a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 27‑year‑old, who led the NBA with 33.5 points per game and was in contention for MVP, is now only 64 games played and must apply for an "Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge" to qualify for end‑of‑season awards.

The injury comes after a standout March in which he became one of only ten players to score 600 points in a month. Despite the setback, the Lakers have already clinched a playoff berth.
