Français (Afrique)The Indian women's cricket team suffered a major setback on Friday as top-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues was ruled out of both the upcoming Asia Cup and the Asian Games after sustaining a hamstring injury during her stint in England's The Hundred tournament.
Following an evaluation by the medical board, the BCCI confirmed that the 25-year-old suffered a severe muscle injury. In her place, the Women's Selection Committee has named Pratika Rawal as her replacement for the ACC Women's Asia Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Dubai from August 28 to September 13.
"Jemimah Rodrigues sustained a right hamstring injury on 3rd August while playing in The Hundred in England. The BCCI Medical Team clinically assessed her at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and the assessment confirmed a high-grade tear," the Board said.
"Consequently, she has been ruled out of the upcoming ACC Women's Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan."
The multi-sport Asian Games are scheduled to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

Rodrigues' injury arrives at a deeply frustrating moment given her fine form in white-ball cricket and her crucial role in India's middle order. Prior to pulling up injured on August 3, the Mumbai-born batter was delivering standout performances in The Hundred, continuing her long-standing success in the English competition where she has consistently ranked among the most effective top-order stroke-makers across past editions.
Her ability to manipulate field placements, rotate strike effectively against spin, and anchor pressure chases made her an indispensable asset for the national team. Her absence creates a substantial void in the batting core as India prepares for two consecutive high-stakes continental events.
Pratika Rawal has replaced Jemimah in the Indian squad. Rawal was ruled out of the knockout stages of the ODI World Cup last year due to a right-leg and ankle injury sustained while fielding against Bangladesh.
