Warholm dropper Diamond League-finalen
Karsten Warholm blir ikke å se under Diamond League-finalen i Brussel kommende helg.
Det bekrefter friidrettsprofilens mor og manager Kristine Haddal overfor Dagbladet.
Warholm har konkurrert mye den siste tiden. Han var på start både under Diamond League-stevnet i polske Silesia og i Zürich. Ved begge anledninger røk han på nye tap mot brasilianske Alison dos Santos.
I Zürich måtte han også se at dos Santos slo verdensrekorden på 400 meter hekk. Brasilianeren ble klokket inn til fantomtiden 45,80 sekunder og knuste nordmannen fullstendig. Warholm fikk tiden 46,69 og var slått med et hav ved målgangen.
Nordmannens gamle verdensrekord lød på 45,94. Løpet kom under OL-finalen i Tokyo i 2021.
Warholm skal nå spare krefter til nyvinningen World Athletics Ultimate Championships i Budapest fra 11. til 13. september.
Nyvinningen går over tre dager og er i regi av Det internasjonale friidrettsforbundet.
Under stevnet i Ungarn er det lagt opp til at hver enkelt vinner skal premieres med 150.000 amerikanske dollar, tilsvarende snaut halvannen million kroner.

Aston Villa make two changes to the team who found themselves four goals down after 31 minutes at Brighton last weekend. In come two debutants: goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and striker Nicolas Jackson. Marco Bizot drops to the bench, while João Gomes, sent off in that aforementioned debacle-by-the-sea, is suspended. Villa have three other potential debutants on their bench in Alejandro Garnacho, Matteo Ruggeri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Arsenal, coming off the back of their three-goal win over Coventry, are unsurprisingly unchanged. Bruno Guimarães is back from injury and on the bench, waiting to make his first Premier League appearance for the Gunners … as is Ezri Konsa, a Villa player just ten days ago.

Former SCR Altach employee now banned worldwide
Move follows pressure from players’ unions
Fifa has extended worldwide the ban on a former match official and SCR Altach employee found guilty of taking secret videos and photographs of members of the club’s women’s team.
In February, a regional court in Feldkirch, Austria, handed the man a seven-month suspended prison sentence, a €1,200 (£1,046) fine and ordered him to pay the victims €625 (£545) each in compensation after he was found guilty of filming and taking photographs of players, including minors, in the changing room, gym and showers of Altach’s women’s team between 2018 and 2025.

Aalesund's women's football team refuses to let Brann gain an decisive lead in the race for the Toppserien championship. On Monday, they defeated Hønefoss 1-0 with league top scorer Katarina Dybvik Sunde finding the net in the 56th minute.
The goal was Sunde's 20th of the season, double that of Brann's Brenna Lovera. Aalesund remains four points behind league leaders Brann. In another match, Lyn defeated Røa 3-1.
Fanatics Sportsbook agrees to pay fine for contacting self-excluded gambler
As the sports betting industry continues to grow, regulation of it becomes critical. Enforcing those regulations is part of that effort.
In Colorado, Fanatics Sportsbook has agreed to pay a $20,000 fine for contacting a gambler who self-excluded from further promotions.
Via Noelle Phillips of the Denver Post, the fine was levied on Thursday following an agreement between the company and the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission.
The self-exclusion list, a tool for addressing gambling addiction, prohibits sportsbooks from sending promotional information to those on it. A Fanatics VIP host contacted the gambler in question twice.
Fanatics Sportsbook, one of three NFL sportsbook partners for 2026, also agreed to audit its self-exclusion list, in order to determine whether others from a group of roughly 1,200 Coloradans were sent marketing promotions via text message between January 1, 2024, and March 1, 2026. It also will train staff members on the self-exclusion rules.
Much more regulation of the industry is needed. And all regulations need to be properly applied. Many gamblers have become addicted, thanks to the ease of placing bets by phone. They win some, then they lose. Then they chase their losses. And then they fall into a hole that only gets deeper.
It's a basic reality that anyone working in sports media needs to recognize, and to repeat. The house wins. That's why it's a good business model. Which means the gamblers lose.
That fact must be accepted by anyone who tiptoes down the primrose path of easy money before learning a very hard, and perhaps irreversible, lesson.
