Det kommer som følge av at Den internasjonale olympiske komité (IOC) midlertidig har opphevet suspensjonen av Russlands olympiske komité, skriver IHF i en pressemelding.
Russland og Belarus kan dermed igjen delta i konkurranser i regi av IHF, blant dem VM i håndball.
En eventuell VM-deltakelse forutsetter likevel kvalifisering eller invitasjon. EM arrangeres av Det europeiske håndballforbundet (EHF) og omfattes ikke av IHF-vedtaket.
Russiske og belarusiske lag og representanter ble utestengt fra IHF-arrangementer i mars 2022, i kjølvannet av Russlands invasjon av Ukraina.
